How did you attract your audience?
The age gap that the majority of our audience would be is between late teens to early 20's an from that specific age range, people are more interested in horror films that would give them chills and spook them out the way they wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Unfortunately the more this generation watches horror films, the more immune they become to it so it gets more difficult to reach that amount of horror that the audience wishes to see. We wanted our audience to feel like what they're watching is different and so the result would be unknown of how they would react to it.
One of the ways to show to our audience of the unique and special look that our OTS has, was the huge amount of different angles. There were close ups, mid shots, security camera shots and all those made the overall result varied what was what we were aiming for.
As the character kept going more insane this was a shot to the audience, where it shows that she is laughing by herself and is almost talking to herself what shows also that she is lonely and alone in the room.
This is where the audience can see that even though she is eating, she's not enjoying the food because she's the prisoner. Also a shot what can be seen just before this comes up is her enjoying herself what shows passage of time and different moods. The audience should feel uncomfortable watching this as they wouldn't know what's yet to come.
Audience is usually attracted to animals or symbolic elements to the genre of the film. Our opening title sequence included a horror icon what in this case is a snake. Snake's representing her dreams and how she think's everyone else is different except her. The audience would be surprised to see a snake and would get the chills from seeing it.
These facts might attract more of our male audience than the female audience. A snake is not something woman would want to see and that is stereotypical. Our male audience might not enjoy the main character to be a female but this is why she was casted to play the main character. Our female audience would be attracted to watch her as they'd be in her shoes trying to figure their way out, as in males would think why she's going insane and why the snake appears. In both cases though there's something for both sides of the audience what would make them enjoy our opening title sequence.
